Easter Calendar:

In regard to all the holidays celebrated in modern society, Easter is the most unique, not because it has an unusual background, but it commemorates the victory in the moment in history, the victory of Christ over death. But don’t forget that Easter has two different faces; people think two ways about why Easter should be celebrated. For Christians, this holiday represents a special significance in that it celebrates the Resurrection. For the people who are not believers, Easter brings to mind the coming of spring, Easter eggs, and Easter bunnies. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is celebrated on Easter, and it is known as the greatest feast day in the Christian calendar. According to Christianity, following the Paschal Full Moon, Easter is celebrated the following Sunday. Easter basically occurs in the month of March. Since Easter signifies the resurrection of the dormant human spirits of the entire mankind, that is the rejuvenated triumph of humanity over the spirits of darkness. That’s why this particular day is so considered more significant than the day of birth of the holy man itself. Easter is always celebrated on the Sunday immediately following the first full moon after the vernal spring equinox. It was established by the Council of Nicea in 325 AD and this was true, but with the passage of time and the course of history made it easier to find an accurate explanation about the date and meaning of this fact. The story of the calendar is very interesting, and has been calculated upon by both political ideals and a search for accurate facts and dates. When history is recorded, all the methods which date back to years are all not precise. But many key events over the years about Easter have been pieced together. To come to an accurate on the date of Easter, calendar changes have taken place.

imageThere are many key events which shape the calendar. This history starts on the "Kalends of March" or March 1st, along with introduction of the Roman calendar in the year 1 AUC, that means Ab Urbe Condita, meaning "from the foundation of Rome". In the Julian calendar in 753 BC, 1 AUC I is the same. The Roman AUC calendar had some rules enforced that passed capital punishment for non compliance, through out the whole of the Roman Empire, far and wide in that period of time. It started with each year having 10 lunar months, and it then changed over to 12 lunar months. Other enhancements were made to change to solar years; days were added here and there to add additional dates so that alignment of seasons could be maintained.

The Gregorian calendar came to use after the use of it over a period of many years. Italy was the first to use it in 1582, while Greece introduced it in 1923. This calendar rectifies accumulated inaccuracies with the help of the Julian calendar by not having too many leap years. Leap years still take place every 4 years except that century years ending with "00" are leap years if they're evenly divisible by 400. This means that only 1 in 4 century years is a leap year. This calendar has been set and is so accurate that rectifications will not be required until 4100 or soon after. The Julian calendar was introduced in 709 AUC or 45 BC and had many similarities to the current Gregorian calendar. It consisted of 12 months a year, and used 366 days to measure solar years.
