History And Origin Of Easter:

To determine the date of Easter is very complex and a matter of controversy. The simplest way is that the Priest’s, both of the Catholic and Protestant Church celebrate Easter on the first Sunday, following the first full moon after the spring equinox. The Easter churches use the same method to calculate the date of Easter.

According to tradition, the festival was a lavish feast that celebrated the booming of new flowers, the chirping of birds, butterflies, and sunshine and the feeling of rejuvenation that is the beginning of spring. Easter was originally known as “God’s Friday". Jesus Christ was from the town of Nazareth in modern Israel. He was respected and loved by all. Many thought him to be the Son of God. Some high officials and Jewish priests thought that he was trying to question their authority and misguide the people. They plotted against Christ with the help of one of his apostles named Judas. On the charges of misleading the people, they arrested Christ. The next day, Christ was presented before a council consisting of priests, elders and teachers. Finding him guilty from every sphere, the council presented him before the Roman Governor, who saw no reason to condemn him. But the priests were adamant and wanted him to be punished. They insisted that it was his teachings, which were responsible for all the riots in the city of Judea. At the same time, they pleaded for the release of one of their men, who had been imprisoned for the crime. The Governor appealed to them, reiterating that Christ had done no wrong. When the clergy did not agree, he handed Jesus Christ to the crowd to do as they wished. The crowd asked for his crucifixion.

As the soldiers took him away, they took a crown of thorns and forced it on his head and then mockingly addressed him by calling him ‘King of the Jews’. Then the crowds started jeering him and calling him names. A huge wooden cross was placed on his shoulders, and he was made to carry it to the place where preparations for crucifying him were made. Along with the soldiers and the commoners, a group of his followers marched in a procession behind him. Two criminals were also led to the same place to be put to death with Jesus. When the three men along Jesus reached the place of crucifixion, they were nailed to the crosses and left to die. Before he could breathe his last, Jesus asked God, his father, to forgive those who were responsible for his death, as they were not aware of their sins. According to belief, Jesus died at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, three hours after being nailed to the cross. Believe and be baptized” was the message Christ’s disciples announced to people throughout the world. Their stories of Jesus’ life and teaching, the “Good News” that was Christ’s gospel, brought people everywhere to believe in Jesus Christ as their “Savior and Redeemer”. And they baptized those who believed in water and the Holy Spirit.
