Halloween Costumes: Halloween every year brings along with it innovative costumes and masks for children, teenagers and adults. i. Spider Costume: Materials Required: 1 full sleeved black turtleneck T-shirt; 1 black full sweatpants / track-pant; 2 pairs of men's long black socks; lots of newspaper or tissue paper; 4 pairs Googly eyes; black thread and needle; elastic thread; Black knit cap; Glue; 1 pair black gloves; Method: Place the T-Shirt on a table. Take the socks and stuff them with newspaper, one at a time.. ensure that you have not overstuffed them. When nicely stuffed and firm attach 2 socks on either side of the T-shirt, evenly spaced. Stitch them with the black thread to the T-shirt. Attach an elastic thread from the top of the bottom sock to the bottom of the middle sock and another elastic strip from the top of the middle sock to the sleeves of the T-shirt. On the other side also repeat the same procedure. Attach the googly eyes to the black knit cap with glue.
ii. Eerie Ghost Costume: Materials Required: 1 White old bed sheet; scissors, thread and needle; white gloves; white socks; permanent marker; white track pants; Method: Place the bed-sheet over your child's head, and mark the length of the costume with a marker. Remember to mark and cut at the knees for easy movement. Cut the hem and stitch the costume. Similarly keep the sleeves arm length and cut and stitch so that the hands are free for movement. Make your child wear white gloves, and white track pants and socks. Mark the eyes and nostrils and mouth and cut them in the desired shape.
iii. Harvest Fairy Costume: Materials Required: 1 sleeveless orange dress; matching tights / leotards; organza fabric (reddish or orange hued); thread and needle; fairy wings; silk harvest flowers and leaves; sequins; matching ballet shoes; fairy Wand; Method: Place the dress on a table. Layer the shimmery organza fabric around the waist of the dress and stitch up to make a layered effect. Attach flowers and sequins well to decorate as you wish. You could line the sequins along the hemline. Sew the wings to the costume for your child's comfort. Tie her hair and attach some floral bands or flowers to her hair as well.

Pumpkin Costume: Materials Required: 1 orange sweat shirt; 1 orange round pillow cover; soft lightweight fillers for stuffing; green tights / leotards; thread and needle; scissors; green ribbon; green knit cap; glue; Method: Cut out the shape and size of your child's head at one end of the pillow cover. Cut two legs and two hands and stitch the pillow cover to the T-shirt. Stitch at the neckline, at the sleeves and also at the hemline of the shirt, so that no opening is left. Stuff the outer pillow case with soft lightweight fillers to make the round pumpkin. Make your child wear the T-shirt and check for ease of movement. Wear green tights. On the green knit cap sew some green leaf cutouts for effect.
v. Giant Eyeball Costume: Materials Required: One white big Tunic; Glue; Markers; felt papers for eye balls; red glitter glue; red color pants; paper plates (of any size you wish); Method: Place the plates upside down. Cut out blue felt paper of smaller size that the plates and stick one each over the bottom of plate for the iris. You could use brown, green felt for different colored iris. Cut out black colored felt of a smaller size and stick in the middle. Then take red glitter glue and draw some branching lines coming out of the iris. Glue the paper plates over the chest of your tunic. They could look like two eerie eyeballs. You could also glue one in front and another at the back of your tunic.
