New Year Happy New Year Wishes(2008) From 101lifeStyle.com New Year Recipes: New Year Kid's Recipes: 1.Confetti Popcorn Balls: Ingredients: Vegetable spray; 4 cups popcorn, popped; 1 cup multicolored gumdrops, chopped; 1/2 cup peanuts, chopped; 3 cups miniature marshmallows; 3 tbsp margarine; Method: Spray large bowl with vegetable spray. Combine popcorn, gumdrops and peanuts in bowl. Combine marshmallows and margarine in large saucepan and melt over medium heat, stirring constantly. Pour marshmallow mixture over popcorn, candy, and nuts, toss until coated. With buttered hands, shape popcorn mixture into 8 balls. Work quickly to shape balls before mixture cools and hardens. Allow to set until serving time. 2.New Year Punch: Ingredients: 1 can frozen raspberry lemonade concentrate; 1 can frozen orange juice concentrate; 3 1/2 cups pineapple juice, chilled; 1 1/3 cups cranberry juice; 2 trays of ice cubes; For garnish: Maraschino cherries; 1 lemon, very thinly sliced; Method: Prepare frozen juices as directed on cans. Combine with pineapple and cranberry juices. Mix with the cherries and lemons. Add ice just before serving. 3.Little Cheese Moons: Ingredients: 1¾ cups grated cheddar cheese; 1 cup whole-wheat pastry flour; 5 tablespoons soy margarine; Cinnamon; Method: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Coat with vegetable oil and lightly dust with flour a cookie sheet. Grate cheese in a food processor, then remove and measure. Return cheese to processor and add flour and margarine, cutting it into several chunks. Process with the metal blade for about 30 seconds or until a fairly smooth dough is formed. Dust your hands with flour to keep things from getting too sticky. Take tablespoons of dough and form into a patty about 1/8-inch thick (if you make them thicker, they won't taste quite as nice). Cut with a moon cutter (or use a knife like me and just free hand it) and place on the cookie sheet. Create many moons this way, using all the dough. Dust each moon with cinnamon and bake for about 10 minutes. Let cool on sheet before removing. 4.Creme Brulee: Ingredients: 1 pt. heavy cream; 6 egg yolks; 1/2 c. sugar; Pinch of salt; 2 tsp. vanilla; Light brown sugar (granulated); Method: Heat heavy cream (the heaviest you can get) to the boiling point. Lightly beat egg yolks with sugar and a pinch of salt; pour the hot cream over them, stirring constantly with a wooden spatula or wire whisk until well blended. Add vanilla or a little mace or any other flavoring you desire. Strain the custard into a 1 1/2 quart heat-proof baking dish; stand the dish in a pan of warm water and bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the custard is completely set but not over cooked. Do not let the water in the pan boil. Remove from the oven; cool and then chill in the refrigerator. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours before serving, sprinkle the top evenly with fine light brown granulated sugar to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Put under the broiler (or use a salamander, if you have one) until the sugar is melted and bubbly, watching carefully to see it does not scorch and burn. Remove, cool, and chill again until serving time. You'll have a hard, highly glazed crust on top of the custard. This will serve about 6. If you have more guests, double the recipe, using 12 egg yolks to a quart of cream. 5.Banana Pudding: Ingredients: 2 cups sugar; 5 cups milk; 3 eggs; 12 tablespoons flour; 1 teaspoon vanilla; vanilla wafers; bananas; Method: In large sauce pan, mix 2 cups sugar, 5 cups milk; mix until dissolved heating on medium heat. Add 3 eggs and 12 tablespoons flour; add the flour in intervals stirring constantly! When all cooked together and well mixed, (until as thick as pudding) stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Layer in large bowl, vanilla wafers, bananas and pudding, until bowl is full or mix is gone. Chill until cold, or eat hot; either way is delicious. More New Year Kid's Recipes |
