Thanksgiving Activities: This Thanksgiving, engage the whole family in fun-filled activities so that you can relax in between preparing for the Thanksgiving dinner. You could have games, story telling sessions, and thanksgiving coloring pages and crafts for the children. Here are some fun activities that you could do this Thanksgiving along with your whole family.
Thanksgiving Games:
For children of various ages, you could try Thanksgiving games and puzzles. There are many online games and puzzles that you can engage children. There are printable options also for games. Sudoku, Word Scrambles, word mining games can be tried by the older children.
Physical games which are very popular before dinner is served are:
1. Thanksgiving Turkey Hunt, where you draw out turkey figures and hide it in innovative, kid-friendly places around the house. The kids hunt for these turkeys and one with the most finds, get the prize.
2. Corn Tray game in which the children need to toss corn in their trays and keep them from falling. Those with the maximum number of corn left after tossing for say 100 times, wins.
3. Turkey Facts game in which each person will be asked questions about turkeys. Person who answers the most wins.
4. Favorite Bowl Write down the names of all guests in chits and place them in a glass bowl. Ask someone to draw out a chit. The person whose name is drawn out needs to tell what his favorite thing about Thanksgiving is. The best answer wins.
5. Decorate the Thankful Tree Make your guests write what they are thankful for on colored chits of paper and tie them with their names on the branches of a potted tree. You could string lights and decorate it with ornament hangers.
Thanksgiving Coloring Pages:
You could buy or print out Thanksgiving coloring pages and involve the children into making innovative pictures. They can use glitter glues, paper cutouts and other decorations to make their pictures unique.
Thanksgiving Story Telling:There are many Thanksgiving stories that you could tell the children. Make them sit in a circle and listen to the stories. You could involve your parents or uncles/aunties to do the job while you are busy.
