Athens offers many short tours and trips for those who have a day or two to spare:

Rafina / Cyclades / Evia:
imageRafina is on the other side of Mount Pendeli and Himitos. Rafina consistes of many restaurants that specialize in fried squid called "kalamarakia",shark with garlic sauce "galeos me skordaya" and small fried fish called "mareede", you can enjoy the fried fish, beer, ouzo which is the most popular drink in Greece, wine in Rafina over an afternoon; make it your personal fiesta. There are also ferries going to the Cyclades and Evia,and you can witness numerous fishing boats. On Sundays the beach is usually crowded . The trip to the Cyclades islands is two hours shorter if you go from Rafina In the summer is a busy period in the port with ships going to and fro, even the restaurants full of tourists. However during the winter it is more peaceful and enjoyable as well.

Vravrona also known as Brauron is in between Loutsa and Porto Rafti ,It has the famous resort Hotel-Spa Mare Nostrum. It is known for the Temple of Artemis right at the intersection from Markopoulo. It is closed on Mondays , The area is a quite suburban area, more of a country side with, farms, vineyards, olive and fig trees bushes, trees and wild plants and it exudes an ancient Attica feel. You can complete your day trip within Athens by visiting a winery, or by having lunch at Loutsa or even a swim at the Avlaki will render you satisfied .The Sanctuary of the Brauronian Artemis was a settlement established in the bay of Brauron during the Neolithic period. It prospered particularly from the Middle Helladic to early Mycenaean times . The Brauronian Artemis was worshipped for a good harvest as she was considered goddess of vegetation and hunting, and as the guardian of pregnant or expectant mothers . Iphigeneia, who was a priestess of Artemis, died and was buried in Brauron and is worshiped as a goddess for fertility and child-birth as well.

The Temple of Poseidon at Sounion temple is dedicated to Poseidon at Sounion and has stood by the the Aegean since the early fifth century BC. Built on the foundations of the original, the temple is built in a Doric ( Greek ) style,.This temple is the last structure of the Athenian sailors and the tip of the Attica peninsula can be viewed from a hill in the area. The beach is clean and neat, it is not a very congested place hence you can enjoy the beauty in the surrounding vicinity. The place connects the land sky and sea to a common point of visual perception.
