Cultural Island Of Bali

imageTraditional Balinese Culture:
The Balinese people have a unique Hindu culture which was introduced by Indian merchants in the 1st century AD however it was given much prominence with the entry of Brahmin priests sometime during the 5th century AD which was then adapted with the Indonesian mountain worship and coincidently emerged as a religion of its own with alot of buddhist influnce as well, because of ongoing trade with the southern part of china and has has been preserved ever since. This is still reflected in the daily life of the Balinese people and can be witnessed in the numerous ceremonies.

In the 11th century, traders brought Islam to the Indonesian archipelago by Indian merchants again. imageJust as Indonesia had earlier adapted Buddhism to their own needs and beliefs, so they accepted Islam but on their own terms. However, there was no specific base for the Indonesian Islamic culture at that time; although today the dominant religion throughout Indonesia is Islam. The Dutch who had colonized Indonesia had established Chritianity in the islands of the archipelago.

Apart from Hinduism, Christianity and Islam the other state recognised religions practised in Indonesia are ....Protestantism , Roman Catholicism , Buddhism , Confucianism. The other religions followed in Indonesia are .... Animism and Judaism
