imageEgyptian Pyramids Of Giza:
The largest pyramid in Giza is the one built for King Khufu and the only structure of the Seven Wonders of the World to still exist , most of the and pyramids and Sphinx are in Giza. Cairo mainly has the Islamic characteristics of Egypt while Giza is characterized by pharaohnic features as the Egyptian pyramids are in Giza w.Giza is one of three cities that comprise Greater Cairo. These cities or governorates according to the Egyptian administration system are Cairo, Giza and Kalyobia. Each of these three governorates has a governor. Egyptian pyramids are a great source of the historical culture of Egypt that marked an era of pyramid building from 2630 BC until about 1530 BC, during which more than 90 royal pyramids were built. Although Giza is another City, it is actually considered a part of greater Cairo.

imageSphinx and the Temple of the Sphinx:
The colossal, recumbent human-headed lion was conceived of by the ancient Egyptians as the sun god Re-Horakhty - "Horus of the horizon". The Egyptians call it Abu el-Hol, the "Father of Terror", and even the Greek name Sphinx is the less than pleasant "Strangler". 45 meters long, 22 meters wide, and carved from a single giant block of sandstone, the Sphinx is considerably smaller than the Pyramids around it. The missing nose is blamed on target practice by bored troops, commonly blamed variously on British soldiers in World War I or Napoleon's troops in 1798, but 18th-century drawings showing the nose already missing, pointing the finger towards the occupying Turks.

imageThe Step Pyramid At Saqqara:
Egyptian Pyramids monuments are a source of rich historical identity for the Egyptians with alot of inscriptions that according to the ancient people had magical powers. The Step Pyramid at saqqara is the first pyramid to be built (2630 BC-2611 BC) during the reign of King Djoser ( Zoser)

imageThe City Of The Dead (Qarafa):
The City Of The Dead is a cemetery of historic importance and is located at the foot of the Citadel all the way to the Muqattam hills in the eastern part of Islamic Cairo and consists of two cemeteries a northern cemetery and a southern cemetery. It is the northern part of the cemetery which is mainly inhabited unlike the southern cemetery which has a reputation for being occupied by drug dealers and thieves etc.... These cemeteries have mausoleums (which is a structure that is an external enclosure surrounding the burial space), a lot of poor people live within the premises of the cemetery also in mausoleums taking care of these mausoleums for the actual owners. The approximate population in The City Of The Dead is about half a million, and the people living thee are poor and conservative The Northern Cemetery shelters Mamluk architecture in the form of mausoleums that belong to Sutan Barquq and Sultan Qaitbey There are a few shops and cafes in the City Of The Dead as well however as the place is a cemetery area mass tourism is not conducted so it is better to visit the place with a personal guide as far as tourists are concerned. This place has been in existence dating back from the mamluks who were actually soldiers who had been taken as slaves from Turkey and the Black Sea Area as young boys and were raised in the household of the sultan, but were given freedom on maturity, but remained as servers to the Sultan as royal advisers and body guards.
