It started as a Civilization along the banks of the River Nile and has been passing a history down to its children which is now almost over 6000 years old, and the traces of the existence of the early man that has been found is dated back almost 700,00 years ago. They built a civilization that was ruled bu them for almost 3 millennia. Ancient Egyptians used phonetic pictograph writing, which the Ancient Greeks called hieroglyphics (the individual characters are called hieroglyphics ) a written dialogue used by the people of that time to make sounds and compose words similar to what we use in these times, hieroglyphics was executed by drawing pictures of objects and the stylized representations of objects to make words and to represent sound combinations to record and communicate information . Scribes as they were the only people who could read and write and were kept to maintain a written record of the government dealings and also had to write letters on behalf of the Pharaoh, These scribes wrote in hieroglyphics and hieractic ( which was a shorter form of hieroglyphics) on a kind of paper called papyrus scrolls that was made out of papyrus reeds and eventually processed so that they could be written on ( the plural form of papyrus is papyri).The scribes also recorded their work in temple walls and tomb walls . However in the course of the three thousand years of the Egyptian civilization three other scripts ( all in the form of signs and letters ) were introduced by the Egyptians for different reasons.
