One of the two cities in the world that have a rainforest within its boundaries, where tigers once roamed. This 164-hectare reserve contains many species of plants. At the heart of the reserve lies Singapore’s highest point, Bukit Timah Hill. You can trek while listening to the birds. You may even see some monkeys or pangolin. The reserve is open from 7am to 7pm. Admission is free. 2.Chinese and Japanese Gardens: A short 5 minutes walk from the Chinese Garden MRT station.The two gardens are situated side by side, reflecting very contrasting landscapes. The 13-hectare Chinese garden has the image of a classical Chinese imperial garden with twin pagodas and a Suzhou-style Penjing garden. The Japanese Garden emphasizes simplicity with stone lanterns, Zen rock garden and classical Japanese motifs, creating a soothing atmosphere. Both gardens are open from 9am to 6pm daily. 3.East Coast Park: Covering a vast area, the East Coast Park hosts the favourite playground for Singaporeans, and holds many avenues of fun, such as bowling, cycling, windsurfing, canoeing, picnicking or just taking a stroll. If not, you may want to enjoy at various leisure attractions in East Coast Park, ranging from food to sports. 4.Fort Canning Park: Fort Canning Park was built between 1859 and 1861 by the British as an arms store, barracks and hospital. It was considered a sacred place to the Malays as this was where the graves of early Malay rulers were erected. This was also where Sir Stamford Raffles built his own bungalow, Singapore’s first Government House. Fort Canning is today, a place where talents of the arts display their masterpieces.  5.Mandai Orchid Gardens: This is Singapore’s largest commercial orchid garden. Sentosa is within reach by cable car. 7.Singapore Botanic Gardens: The Singapore Botanic Gardens has primary jungle, and manicured gardens in its 52-hectare spread. It holds an abundance of flora, with many specimens among them. Outdoor concerts are also held here. The National Orchid Garden, which holds 60 000 plants and orchids, and "VIP Orchids" are named after state dignitaries. 8.Jurong Bird Park And Jurong Reptile Park: It is 20-hectares large, and is the largest bird park in South-East Asia. It houses 8000 birds from 600 species. The bird-park's "Birds of Prey" show displays the excellent huntsmanship of the falcon, eagles and hawks. It also has the world’s largest hornbill collections. It also contains the world’s largest man-made waterfall. The Bird Park also offers an all-star bird show called the "Jurong Bird Park All-Star Bird Show" during which you will be entertained by flamingos, parrots and other exciting highlights. Penguins can also be found at the Jurong Bird Park. They are housed in an air-conditioned habitat where they can be viewed through glass walls. Catch a glimpse of these birds swimming underwater. You are one step closer to nature in the Bird Park. This is South-East Asia’s largest reptile park, which features over 50 reptilian species in different landscapes. Walk a trail where scaly reptiles are free to roam, after which you can enjoy the reptile shows or take a photograph with them. The Singapore Crocodilarium provides incoming tourists with extensive information about crocodiles. These ferocious animals are not to be provoked and leaning over the bars is not recommended. Crocodile performances are shows not to be missed. Performers from Thailand do death-defying acts, for example putting their heads into the jaws of the crocodiles. After the performance, the audience can give the performers 'tips' by throwing money into the "Jaws of Death" –the crocodiles' mouths.
